ERIN BOETTCHER
Assistant Research Scientist

Welcome! I'm an observational astronomer interested in the interplay between galaxies and their gaseous environments. I use telescopes on the ground and in space to study the physical properties of the circumgalactic medium and of gaseous, disk-halo interfaces. I'm currently an Assistant Research Scientist at the University of Maryland, College Park and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, where my research focuses on using high-resolution X-ray spectroscopy to understand galactic winds and fountains. Previously, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Chicago, where I worked on the Cosmic Ultraviolet Baryon Survey. I received my PhD from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 2018, where I worked with Profs. Ellen Zweibel and Jay Gallagher on characterizing the dynamical states of gaseous, disk-halo interfaces in nearby galaxies.
